"Can 'good sex' be the same as Tantra?"
This question came up in a forum recently.

Tantra, in my understanding, cultivates or brings about the experience of life as sacred and the 'life-currents' as sacred, and intentionally uses the life currents to bring about deep purification to support profound Liberation (freedom from past conditioning and repetitive patterns of stress).

If 'good sex' brings that about for you then it was a 'Tantric' experience, but it only becomes Tantra in a more practical sense when you know how to cultivate and maintain this experience intentionally.

What is Tantra?

Tantra is the ultimate bridge between transcendent spirituality and the simple ability to live in joy, in gratitude... even ecstatically, in the 'hustle and bustle' of daily existence.

Tantra is fully embodied spirituality.

It is finding the root of our being, and cleansing ourselves of the past so that we may overcome compulsive polarity-dynamics, power games, defensiveness, emotional dependencies, projection, and ultimately overcome our compulsive attachments and experience life as joyful, liberated being.

I've spent over 20 years studying literally countless therapies, healing modalities, chi(or prana)-cultivation exercises, consciousness-expanding techniques, and teachings on spiritual liberation.

I'm passionate about investigating the depths of human nature and uncovering human potential - our collective potential and the unique potential and gifts that we each can bring to enrich each other's lives.

I'm no stranger to human suffering and the dark side of humanity but I'm a shameless 'utopian' - a believer in our ability to improve the conditions of our lives and of our culture, enabling us to experience what we could call 'heaven on Earth'.

However, my experience tells me that we won't be at peace, until we truly get back in touch with the creative force that animates and supports us.

This is not just about 'spirituality' in a conventional sense.

... So what does this really mean?

This means aligning with the intelligent energy-flow of Life in all its forms (not only the form it takes as creativity and wisdom; also the form it takes in our bodies as the power to regenerate, heal and grow, and in our environment as the dynamic balance of the forces and elements of Nature).

With the way our education works, we tend to only see or understand a small part of the 'big picture'... For some, their fascination or life journey is mostly about inner development, for some it is therapeutic work, for some it is spirituality and for some it is social or political issues.

All these approaches have their own validity and each impacts us and the world in their own way.

My personal journey has combined many elements.

I'm trained in Life Coaching and Applied Emotional Intelligence, I'm also a Permaculture teacher specialising in Social Permaculture.

Also, I am a Tantra teacher and coach/mentor for teachers.

This part of my 'career' began with deep soul-searching, the quest for 'Enlightenment', many years of meditation and many blessed encounters with Enlightened teachers.

My two decades (half my life) of formal spiritual practice has given me the insight into what works and why.

Just as importantly, it has become clear to me why people struggle for lifetimes frustrated in their spiritual practice.
