Tantra is not actually about 'sex' in the ordinary sense of the word, it is about liberating the creative energies.
'Westerners' have much of their energy caught up in sexual conditioning. So although Tantra is about Spiritual Liberation, the whole subject of 'mindful sexuality' - intentionally and alchemically managing the sexual energy - can be a key part of our Liberation.
It should however be remembered, sexuality is just one part.
Tantra is concerned with all aspects of managing the life-force, using specific techniques to direct the life-currents to bring about Liberation, or 'Self-Realization'.
